Carrot Sticks

This is one for the 'duh, I can't believe I didn't think of it before' department. I peeled organic carrots and cut them into sticks and then steamed them. Since he can't quite handle a raw carrot, yet, these are a great snack for Graham, and also great to send in his lunch. I sent them along with a little hummus sandwich. He seems to really like the hummus and it's super easy to make and keep on hand:

1 can of garbonzo beans (chick peas) drained with liquid reserved
2 cloves of garlic, smashed
3-4 tablespoons of lemon juice
1 1/2 tablespoons of tahini (sesame paste)

Add ingredients together in a food processor and pulse until smooth. Add liquid from beans (about 1/4 cup, more if needed) and olive oil if you'd like. You can also add roasted red peppers, paprika, cayenne pepper (if not for the baby) just about any other spices you'd like. Serve on pita bread (or those little deli thin sandwich buns) or dip the carrot sticks into the hummus!
